eTag Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

eTag is a product being developed by eFind, LLC (“eFind,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
eFind is responsible for the personal information covered by this Policy unless another notice says otherwise.

2. What this Policy covers

This Policy covers personal information processed through:

• eTag.efind.com and related eTag product-preview pages;
• requests to join eTag updates or other pre-launch communications;
• support, feedback, privacy, and legal communications about eTag; and
• pre-release eTag experiences that expressly link to this Policy.

This Policy does not yet describe a final production eTag location architecture, because that architecture has not launched.

If eTag later interoperates with a third-party operating system, finding network, map provider, communications provider, or other service, that third party may process information under its own privacy terms. We will identify material third-party relationships before they are required for use.

3. Information we may collect today

Information you provide

• Contact information, such as your name and email address when you request updates or contact us.
• Communications, including questions, feedback, support requests, and other information you choose to send us.
• Preferences, such as whether you want product updates and the topics you are interested in.

Information collected automatically from the preview website

• Device and browser information, such as browser type, operating system, language, and device type.
• Network information, such as IP address and basic connection information.
• Usage information, such as pages visited, approximate timestamps, referring pages, and interactions with the site.
• Approximate location, which may be inferred from an IP address or similar network information.
• Cookie or similar identifiers used for essential site operation, security, preferences, and analytics where enabled.

4. Future eTag location information

eTag is intended to help people find belongings. Location information can be highly sensitive, so the final production design will receive a separate and more detailed disclosure before launch.

That disclosure will explain, in plain language:

• what location information is processed;
• whether information is stored on eTag, ePhone, eFind systems, or another approved service;
• who can see item location information;
• how long location information is retained;
• how temporary sharing and lost-item recovery work;
• how ownership, transfer, reset, and deletion work;
• what permissions are required; and
• what unwanted-tracking safeguards are implemented.

We do not intend to sell precise eTag location data or use precise eTag location data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Any materially different practice would require an updated disclosure and any consent or opt-out rights required by law.

5. How we use personal information

We may use personal information covered by this Policy to:

• operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the eTag preview website;
• respond to questions, support requests, legal inquiries, and feedback;
• send product updates or other communications you asked to receive;
• understand how the preview website performs and how people use it;
• improve product concepts, documentation, accessibility, and user experience;
• detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and misuse;
• comply with law and enforce applicable terms; and
• protect the rights, safety, and security of users, eFind, and others.

6. How we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

• Service providers that help us host, secure, analyze, operate, and support the website or send requested communications;
• Professional advisers, such as lawyers, auditors, insurers, and security specialists where reasonably necessary;
• Authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent abuse; and
• Parties to a corporate transaction if eFind is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. The eTag preview site is not designed to use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

eTag.efind.com may use cookies or similar technologies for essential functionality, security, preferences, and measurement.

Where required by law, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies and provide a way to change your choices.

If advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising technologies are introduced in the future, we will update this Policy and provide the notices and opt-out mechanisms required by applicable law.

8. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide requested communications, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations.

Retention can vary depending on the type of information and why we collected it.

When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, de-identify, or otherwise dispose of it, subject to legal, security, backup, and recordkeeping requirements.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No online service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we do not make absolute security guarantees.

10. Your choices

• Product updates: You can unsubscribe from marketing or product-update emails using the unsubscribe method in the message.
• Browser controls: You can manage cookies and similar technologies through browser settings and, where available, our consent controls.
• Privacy requests: You can contact legal@efind.com to exercise applicable privacy rights.

11. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to know or access personal information, obtain a copy, correct inaccurate information, delete information, opt out of certain sales or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and appeal certain privacy decisions.

You will not receive unlawful discriminatory treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent.

If we deny a request, you may have a right to appeal our decision.

California Notice at Collection

For the preview website, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

• Identifiers — such as email address, IP address, and online identifiers;
• Internet or electronic activity — such as site usage and browser interactions;
• Approximate geolocation — such as location inferred from IP address;
• Communications and support information — information you choose to provide to us.

We collect these categories from you, your browser or device, and service providers that support the site.

We use them for the purposes described in Section 5.

We disclose them to the categories of recipients described in Section 6.

The preview website is not designed to collect precise geolocation as sensitive personal information.

If future eTag services process precise geolocation, we will provide a new or updated notice before that processing begins.

12. EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If data protection law in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland applies to our processing, the legal basis will depend on the activity.

We may process information because it is necessary to provide a service you requested, because we have a legitimate interest in operating and securing the preview website, because you gave consent, or because processing is necessary to meet a legal obligation.

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability, and a right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

If personal information is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards where required by law.

13. Children

The eTag preview website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the preview site.

eTag is being designed as an item tracker, not as a product for secretly tracking people or children.

Additional age and family-account requirements may apply to production services and will be published before launch.

14. Third-party links and services

Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

A link does not mean that eFind controls or is responsible for that third party’s privacy practices.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as eTag develops, our practices change, or laws evolve.

If changes are material, we will provide notice where required.

The “Effective” date at the top shows when this Policy was last updated.
